For three weeks, Awesome People has been running the "Don't Volunteer if..." campaign within the European Activist Factory project funded by the Nordic Council and the European Youth Foundation.
We started the campaign with the cryptic message "Don't Volunteer" in our social media, then we organized a flashmob in central Örebro with signs "Don't volunteer if you don't want to boost your CV"; "Don't volunteer if you do not want to increase your social network"; "Don't volunteer if you do not want to change the world".
We also spread these signs online in our social media along with videos that illustrated what we wanted to convey. Our two international volunteers organized two workshops at the Virginian School where they informed youngsters about the benefits of volunteering.
On International Volunteer Day, December 5, the campaign ended with an event at Awesome People's office, where we talked about the campaign, how to get involved in Awesome People and where participants got to test the newly developed educational escape room about volunteering created by our international volunteers. A big thank you to those who participated in our closing event yesterday and to our international volunteers Gözde and Romain who worked with the campaign!
