What’s our challenge?
Participants brainstormed in the big group what can be considered a social challenge, chose some examples to focus on and then, in national teams they chose one social challenge that is the most relevant for their local realities. They came up with topics around: lack of youth involvement in politics, increasing levels of stress among youngsters, gender inequality among youngsters in terms of leadership views or lack of meaningful interactions between locals and immigrants.
Groups then went deeper into the topic using a problem tree and trying to identify the ‘roots’ of the problem they identified. The leitmotif of the session was the question why? as participants had to research, brainstorm and get an in-depth understanding of the chosen social challenge. They also thought about the effects of the problem and started to work in national groups, joined other groups and started to give each other feedback about their problem tree.
